The Research Foundation has launched the 1st Call for research sabbatical periods aimed for the development of a research project, with th epurpose of stimulating the resaerch culture and facilitating scientific retraining of the hospital professionals..
The deadline for delivery of application forms is March 30th 2007.

1.- OBJECT AND APPLICATION FIELD
The purpose of the call herein is to facilitate the scientific retraining of the hospital La Fe professionals by exonerating them from their tasks in order to promote quality scientific research at the Hospital.
The call herein is addressed to Doctors, University Graduates (Nursing) and Laboratotry Technicians (Professional Training) included among the professional working at the Hospital La Fe.
For 2007, 2 sabbatical periods to doctors and 2 to graduates and laboratory technicians could be granted.
2.- TERM OF STAY
Generally speaking, the term of stays is established in one year for doctors and a maximum of six months for university graduates and laboratory technicians.
Stays must be done in hospitals other than the Hospital La Fe, and can be fractioned exceptionally, both in time and place, in accordnace to duly justified reasons, being its approval left to discretion of the Assessment Committee.
3.- FUNDING
The professionals granted with sabbatical period will have the right to continue receiving from the Hospital their salary, in the same conditions.
In the event that the stay is done in a city/country other than the usual working place, an additional aid can be requested as travel grant.
4.- FORMALISE APPLICATION FORMS
Application forms, in standarized document, must be delivered both in paper and electronic format (in duplicate), addressed to the Director of the Research Foundation of the Hospital La Fe at the Entry Registry of the Foundation (6ª planta de la Escuela de enfermería, despacho 619).
Application forms must include:
1) A description of the Research Project intending to conduct that must include precedents, hypothesis, objectives, methodology, work plan and the interest and relevance for the hospital.
2) A description of the Receiving Group containing information about the receiving institution, scientific and technical record of the group, as well as the commitment of the receiving group in intergrating the applicant for the conduction of the project.
3) Interest for the Hospital/ Group of the proposed research.
4) Normalized curriculum vitae of the applicant and a document explaining the candidate's suitability for the conduction of the proposed action.
5) Approval report from the Head of the Service/ Nursing Deputy Management, with approval from the Manager of Departamento 7.
5.- DEADLINE OF CALL
The call will be open until 30th of March, 2007.
6.- ASSESSMENT AND SELECTION OF PROJECTS
Fisrt of all, application forms will be examined by the Research Committee of the Hospital, who will issue a report explaining the merits of the candidates, as well as the project to conduct and its interest. The aforementioned Committee , when appropriate, will issue a grant and priority proposal among the different applications.
The Assessment Committee will be made up, among others, by the Director of the Foundation La Fe, the Manager of Departamento 7 and the Health Management, or delegates appointed by the aforementioned offices, that will designate the beneficiaries of the aid taking into account the following:
a) Scientific interest of the research project and its relevance for the Hospital.
b) Institution where the research project will be conducted , and scientific quality of the receiving group.
c) Scientific and technical merits of the applicant, whose non-adequacy will be exclusive.
d) Reasoned report from the Research Committee.
7.-ACCEPTANCE AND DUTIES OF THE BENEFICIARY
Beneficiaries will agree to:
a) Devote exclusively and effeciently to research work, following the proposed work .b) Submitt to the Foundation La Fe a report every three or six months, depending on the case, summarizing the work carried out.
c) Acknowledge the duty to give a copy of the publications done that will include ackowledgments to the Foundation.
d) Submitt to the Foundation La fe a final report within the following three months to the completion of the sabbatical period, consisting on a breif summary of the scientific achievements.
8.- SPECIFIC REGULATIONS
• The Health Department (Consellería de Sanidad) guarantees the concession of a spececial permission to the beneficiary of the Sabbatical Period, by mantaining salary, for all purposes, for the duration of said period.
• The hospital professionals that obtain the "Sabbatical Period" will mantain their labour connections with the Hospital, and will devote exclusively to develop research activities.
• The Hospital agrees to continue paying to the beneficiary its whole salary, in the same conditions as if conducting assistance tasks at the hospital, during established period.
• The Foundation La Fe will transfer to the Health Department the neccessary funds for the hiring of a person that will hold the post of the beneficiary during the term of sabbatical period.
In the event that the beneficiary infringes the conditions set forth in this call, in particular those concerning the time period and working place, will mean the loss of the sabbatical period and the immediate return to the usual working place.
